Instinctive paranoia

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Had a bad run with the cards and lost a few dollars - got my haughtiness wacked outa shape. Thought about playing video poker for a change of scenery, but ended up walking past the slot machines into the bar. He’s got no cause to beef with me. And it’s not like he’s anteing up so much cash he gets any rights to bid me what to do. He’s like a piker - stingy bettor with a big mouth. Not worth the time of day, most days.

But, after the second drink, he did get me to thinking. When I lost the third pot in a row to river cards against the odds, I confess to thinking I was caught in a skin game. But there’s lots of folk get it into their heads that online video poker sites are cheating them. So I s’pose I’d better say a few words of reassurance - not that it’ll actually boost your confidence. The truth ain’t designed to do that.

So, let me sit you down in front of a video poker machine playing Jacks or Better on a pay table that’s offering 9-6-250 like online at (for example) goldencasino.com. That machine’s set up to pay back only a fraction over 98% of what it takes. Even if you play a perfect strategy on this machine, the theoretical return never gets above 100%. It bears saying again. No matter which lucky rabbit’s foot you got in your pants, the very best you can hope to do is to almost break even.

One last thought before the thinking’s done: some of you load up your own software to run alongside video poker machines - kinda like a coach. Me, I don’t have no problem with that, but some online casinos’re uploading Dynamic Link Library subroutines to identify the applications you’re running at the same time as the casino package. They might not like some of the things they find - not within the spirit of the game from their point of view. Remember the old Chinese saying, “Big fish eat small fish.”

Just ’cause you come up empty on one or two sessions don’t mean nothing ‘cept your wins and losses’re averaging out over time. To make any kinda case against the casino, you’d need evidence. How you gonna that that evidence? Well, you gotta test their slot machines. Pick one of their video poker games. Say before you start how many times you’re gonna play and what you hafta see to prove the machine’s rigged. S’pose you think a video poker game don’t have all the faces in the deck - you’ve to track the frequency of the faces as they show in the count of all non-face cards. Tracking how many hands you played and how many you won or lost ain’t no proof at all. You need a test that’s statistically significant to prove cheating. So how many thousand hands of data you gonna pay to collect to test your hypothesis? It’s put up or shut up. No-one likes a sore loser unless they got the evidence to prove otherwise.

Read All About It! The RGN for Slots Machines are Real and Efficient!

Some people believe that playing slots can be a game desingned only for losers; one that is connected to nothing at all, and requires no skills or techniques in order to win. These people are ignorant to the fact that slots are a game that requires a familiarity with the game and that is very much so a well-oiled machine, guarded in order to provide players with the most efficient game of chance available! Operated by a random number generator this type of gambling is always maintained to generate fresh, random numbers regularly. This ensures that players like you are getting the best in the game. Also, you do have to require a familiarity with the game so that you can play correctly and leave happy, knowing that there was nothing you could have done to sway the outcome. This is a practice style game. When you do bet real money, you should always try to go for max bet, especially if these are progressive slots. This would mean that your payout, if you do win, will be huge! Now, this is something that you should know if you choose to play slots. Or you can remain uninformed about the game and walk away with less than you could have potentially walked away with. Would an uninformed slots player do that? I don’t think so.

This Just In: No one likes a sore loser! Win at Slots today.

The first time I went into a casino, I had no clue on what to do or where to go. I looked at the action around me, and felt like I was an alien on the festival of life. It wasn’t until I was attracted to the slots machines that I understood where I had to be. The cha-ching noise it made and the busy crowds that surrounded it all made sense. Slots always were the best games to play. So play I did. In my first few moments, I racked up bonuses like you wouldn’t believe. I bet max everytime I play slots because I had heard from a friend that that was the way to go when looking for a larger payout. And what do you think?
I am constantly amazed by the bonuses that the game of slots offer. I can’t wait! There are so many different themes available and it is always nice to watch other players win money from playing free slots. I can tell these players practice from their own slots online games. To anyone who is considering playing slots in house or slots online, I say go for it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain from being an everyday person just like me who likes to play slots!

Video poker machines are a con

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Video poker machines lined up at the entrance to any casino, or lurking in the corner of social clubs where the local gambling ordinances permit them can decieve everyone but not you. They are here to take moiney from people. They play to the greed, the get-rich-quick in the poor saps who can’t resist them. . . Keep listening their cries that they’re not winning enough. Keep seeing them coming back to the machines. There’s only one thing you can say about these people. They have worked out the one important feature of the machines. The House has an edge. No matter where you go in the casino world, whether its to some swanky place or online, the paytables are set in a way that gives the House a mathematical advantage. So let’s put those sore losers right. There’s no need for the House to rig the machines. The casino operators are going to win in the long term without having to cheat. There’s no way they will spoil a sure thing by risking detection as a fraud by regulators. There will be times when players have a hot streak and it will seem like all the jackpots are falling. Then those streaks will go cold. That’s just the way statistics work their way to the one mathematical certainty. The House will win in the end.

Quite a few mistakes

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Young and hot players are often seducted by the idea of getting everything just for some mathematical reckons. But after several coctails they are no longer available to complete those reckons. This is the way casinos save their money from such “scientists”.

They’ve got no idea what they’re doing. An’ you never see this more often than in a casino watching how people play the slot machines. So, just for a moment, I’m going to slip into their mindset - give you a quick tour of how a gambler can fall into a trap. Need a drink first, though, to dull the pain.

So, here I am, playing video poker. I spend one coin after another and have very interesting free time. Got me some serious scientific study going on here! My video poker strategy is down pat! You see, to my way of thinking, there’s no such thing as a random sequence. The probability of any one thing happening is set by what went before. So, if I got me a winning hand, the law of averages says the odds of that happening again is poorer for the hands that come just after it. An’ that’s true for the reverse as well. The longer I go without a winning hand, the more likely a big hand gets.

vThese folk live in a dream world. You ever watch a Dealer wash and shuffle a deck fairly. Then the Dealer deals five cards to each player from that shuffled deck. All the countries licensing video versions of card and dice games have laws. No country wants to kill the golden goose that’s laying all them tax eggs so they all want to see fair games. Players vote with their feet if they think a game’s crooked. That isn’t correspond to casino’s interests. You might be thinking these casinos’ll still be out to cheat you in some way - after all, wouldn’t nothing be easier than to tweak the software - and those countries’re probably corrupt, take a backhander and look the other way. But there’s no need to cheat. No matter how you cut it, the games make more’n enough money when played fairly. Even when serious professionals come out to play, the House has an edge.

So, on a video poker machine, the Random Number Generator (RNG for short) shuffles that virtual deck of 52 cards and pulls out your first five. Now sometimes, the slot machines sit with that randomized deck and deal the next cards off the top when you press draw. In others, that ol’ RNG don’t know when to quit. . The longer you take, the more times the RNG has cycled. Finally, you decide what you’re holding and hit the draw button. You get a card on the top of the . Wait a fraction of a second longer, and you get different cards. It don’t matter which wy the machines’re set up. The deck has a random distribution of cards.

So don’t you never fall into no gambler’s fallacy. There ain’t no deck of cards or dice that got a memory. They’re just the tools we use to gamble with. Sure these new video poker machines can have big memories but there ain’t no point to that. So long as they all got a RNG, all they’re doing is remembering the longest string of random numbers anyone’s ever bothered to collect.

So I’ll be getting back to the free online video poker - I’m looking over a new game. Ain’t no reason to pay to play. Just browsing for now.
What these dreamers in a fog never see clearly is the principle of statistical independence. This a fancy way of saying that events are unrelated - when the first occurrence has no effect on the second. When events are random. So when is a sequence of cards random? When the odds of you predicting the next card are no better than chance. It’s like tossing a coin. Every time you toss a coin, the chances of getting one of two sides is always 1 in 2. It never changes from one toss to the next.

Slot machines: a winning strategy

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Althought many people play slots hoping that this is the right way to catch a good money, there are also people that play slots only for fun. While it would be great if there was a strategy that could make you a long term winner at slots, the truth is, there is really no such thing. But if you want to have fun playing slots for as long as possible, there are a few mostly common sense things to keep in mind. First, be sure that you understand what you are doing when you play slot machines. Know what the pay tables are and what it takes to be eligible to win a jackpot or bonus before you put any coins into a machine. It is free to join and members get benefits like free meals, discounts on hotel rooms or even free rooms, and sometimes cash back. Perhaps the most important rule of thumb when playing slots machines or any game of chance for that matter is only play with disposable income - that is, money that you can afford to lose. Be sure that you are rested and alert while you are playing, and don’t play for a long period of time without a break. If you are tired, you are more likely to make a costly mistake. If you play fairly often, you can join the slots club at the location where you play.It is a good idea to decide in advance how much you will spend on slots during an entire day or trip. Take a break and do something else for a while. If you win, you may decide to keep playing or to pocket the winnings for now. Don’t play on a progressive slot machine if you only want to play one coin at a time. Remember that slot machines are intended to be fun and entertaining. If you want to be able to play for a long time, make sure you choose a machine that does not penalize you for playing less than the maximum number of coins. That way, you can play one coin at a time and prolong your playing time on a set bankroll. This goes against the advice you may see to always play the maximum number of coins, but it is the strategy to use if you want to maximize your playing time. On the other hand, if you are playing progressive slots with the hope of hitting the jackpot, you have to play the maximum number of coins in order to be eligible for the big prize. It can be exciting to win the jackpot, but the primary goal of playing slots should always be to have fun without losing your shirt!

Is Online Poker Rigged?

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Some people can think that online poker is rigged, but actually it isn’t.

The rake is the money the online poker site collects from the players each hand. It is a percentage of the money that is bet. At most sites there is a cap on the rake, therefore it is better for casinos to make poker not rigged. The reason you may see more big hands like a straight flush or four of a kind online is the play online is generally loose especially at low money tables. The more players in a hand means its more likely that a someone will draw a monster hand. Its not the way the program is shuffling the cards.

If you have been cheated in online casino it was most likely wile playing against two or more players that were in collusion. This is when two players secretly communicate with each other about their hole cards and betting strategy. The cheaters quickly get spotted by the players or the poker site and are not anything to worry about. To guard against this watch for players that always play slow before the flop because this is when they are communicating and plotting against you, also look out for a guy that keeps raising and reraising with nothing because he’s trying to jack up the pot for his partner or push out players that may win. Poker sites watch for players that only play together.

Hackers that claim they have hacked the poker sites are usually trying to sell you some kind of cheater program. These programs don’t work and are nothing more than a scam. The online poker sites are super secure these days. A reputation of security and fairness equals new customers and cash to a poker site, so they go to great lengths to achieve this.

Where there’s money involved there will always be cheaters but online poker is not rigged. Pick an established poker site (Like Titan Poker room) to play on and you will be all right. The play online is different then it is at a casino, however you are less likely to be cheated online because no human ever touches the cards. If you spot a cheater always turn them in.
